Texas Lobby Tracker (the “Service,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Stenger Strategies of Austin, Texas. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version. Our users are lobbyists, government-affairs professionals, and political press. People whose work is confidential by nature deserve plain language:

  1. The lobby data we display is public record. We aggregate registrations published by the Texas Ethics Commission. We are not surveilling anyone — we organize information the State already publishes.
  2. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
  3. What you do inside the Service is private. Your searches, filters, sector selections, and alert preferences are never shown to other users and are never sold or shared.
  4. We run no advertising or analytics trackers of any kind. No Google Analytics, no advertising networks, no social pixels. We set no cookies.
  5. We collect the minimum needed to run the Service, and keep it only as long as we need it.

1. Information we collect

a) Account information — you give it to us

Your email address, name, username, and optionally (for lobbyists) your TEC registrant ID. If you choose to publish a professional profile, we also store what you enter there: firm or organization, biography, private-sector and government experience, and a contact email. Publishing a profile is optional and off by default.

b) Subscription information

Your subscription status (pending, trialing, active, past due, canceled) to control access, plus a Stripe customer reference. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.

c) Preferences

Your alert settings — frequency, sectors, keywords, and which change types you want. We use these only to send the alerts you asked for. We do not build advertising profiles and do not expose your activity to other users.

d) Communications

If you request alerts or contact us, we process your email address and your message in order to respond.

e) Technical logs

Our host records standard server logs (IP address, request time, browser type) for security and reliability. These are retained under our host’s standard practice.

f) Sign-in records

When you sign in, we record the date and time, your browser type, and a random identifier stored in your browser that distinguishes one device from another. That identifier is not linked to anything outside the Service and contains no personal information. We do not log your IP address for this purpose.

We use these records for one purpose: to enforce the rule that a subscription is for one person. We do not use them to track what you read, which lobbyists or clients you search for, or how you use the Service. We retain them for 12 months.

What the Service displays about lobbyists — names, clients, sectors, and compensation ranges — is public information published by the Texas Ethics Commission, not information collected from you.

2. How we use information

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. What we do not do

4. Service providers

ProviderPurposeWhat it handles
SupabaseDatabase and authenticationAccount details, subscription status, alert preferences, profile fields
StripePaymentsCard data handled entirely by Stripe; we hold only a customer reference and status
NetlifyHostingStandard server and request logs
Google WorkspaceAlert and account emailYour email address and the alert content
AnthropicAutomated sector classification of public filingsClient names from public TEC data only. No subscriber personal data is ever sent.

We do not authorize these providers to use your data for their own purposes.

5. Cookies, storage, and analytics

We set no cookies. Your signed-in session is held in your browser’s own local storage so you stay logged in; clearing your browser data signs you out.

We use no analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising or social-media tracking, and no third-party script that profiles you. If we ever add traffic measurement, we will use a cookieless service that does not identify individuals, and we will update this policy first.

6. How long we keep it

7. How we protect your data

No system is perfectly secure. We reduce risk by holding as little as possible and gating what we hold.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live — including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Email info@stengerstrategies.com from your account address and we will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

9. Organizational customers

If your firm or organization needs a data processing addendum or specific retention terms, contact info@stengerstrategies.com. We can accommodate reasonable requests.

10. Email practices

Alert and account email goes only to addresses that requested it or hold an account. Every commercial message carries our physical mailing address and a working unsubscribe mechanism.

Alert subject lines are deliberately neutral — for example, “TX Lobby Tracker: 3 filing changes — August 12, 2026.” They never name the sectors, clients, or keywords you follow, so the substance of your interests is not disclosed to anyone who sees your inbox.

11. Children

The Service is a professional research tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, sent by email.
